Attorney General Discloses Inquiry into President's Rivals and Epstein Links
This past Friday, Pam Bondi appointed interim US attorney Jay Clayton to head an investigation into opponents of the President and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came shortly after the president instructed her to launch the probe.
During an announcement, Bondi commended Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This development seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from federal authorities which stated that documents related to Epstein did not warrant additional investigations. As per the document, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
Trump Demands Focus on Democrats in Epstein Case
The announcement coincides with growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to oppose the full release of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision next week. Several lawmakers are expected to support the release.
Recently released emails from Epstein have spotlighted the president’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, revealing details that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.
On Friday, the President declared he would direct the Department of Justice to examine Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also described the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.

- Trump stated he would take legal action against the BBC, even after an apology from the media outlet. He claimed the legal case could seek between a billion and $5bn.
- Epstein allegedly guided former Trump aide Steve Bannon during a pro-Trump effort to defend the president’s agenda. Text messages released show his role in advising Bannon.
- US military are planning for a divided Gaza, with a “green zone” under joint military oversight and a “red zone” unreconstructed.
- Georgia prosecutor have reopened the last remaining criminal case against the President after appointing a new lead prosecutor.
- The President reversed trade measures by cutting duties on food imports like various food items to combat rising costs.
- US and Switzerland concluded a deal to lower import taxes on products from Switzerland from a significant decrease.
Other notable events featured appeals to protect national parks, criticism of an antisemitism watchdog, and a judge’s decision for a resolution in the OxyContin lawsuit.
