The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, according to royal officials.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the UK government.
King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of environmental conservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil preceding the COP summit.
Royal sources have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were greeted guests including environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
The climate conference will dovetail with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on the sixth of November.
Last week the prince described the prize competitors as "contemporary champions".
King Charles has been a key figure at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the existential threats challenging our world over global warming, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the King told attendees.
